Winstone Aggregates lodged resource consent applications for the new extraction area at its Hunua Quarry with the Papakura District and Auckland Regional Councils in April 2007.
The extraction area at Symonds Hill will ensure continuity of supply of high quality aggregates for district and regional infrastructure needs, and will eventually replace the current extraction area.
The consent applications are for activities associated with the development of the new area and are based on comprehensive independent assessments of the potential environmental effects of the development. For details about the project and applications. Winstone Aggregates has communicated with the local community, potentially affected parties, Iwi and Councils about the project throughout the planning process, by means of liaison meetings, direct mail, the company's website and an open day.
The Papakura District and Auckland Regional Councils will process the applications in accordance with the provisions of the Resource Management Act and questions about the timeframe and processing should be directed to the Councils. (www.pdc.govt.nz and www.arc.govt.nz). |
