Winstone Aggregates lodged resource consent applications for the new extraction area at its Hunua Quarry with the Papakura District and Auckland Regional Councils in April 2007. The Councils publicly notified them on 4 July 2007.

The consent applications are for activities associated with the development of the new area and are based on comprehensive independent assessments of the potential environmental effects of the development.
