In a great example of collaboration, innovation and sustainability, Winstone Aggregates and Pacific Steel have embarked on a joint initiative to produce a new, high value, anti-skid roading aggregate from a steel manufacturing waste stream.

The Waste Recovery and Aggregate Processing (WRAP) plant is now in operation beside Pacific Steel's Otahuhu factory. The plant is producing a full range of sealing chip and PAP product all of which have been tested and conform to TRANSIT TNZ M6 specification.

Winstone Aggregates National Manufacturing Manager Jason Lowe says the key benefit of the product is a high resistance to skidding and the ability to remain intact under high stress conditions.

The product has been named High Skid Resistance Aggregate and stock is available now.
