Environment   People       Community   Products Feature Article   Customer Corner: Smith and Davies   As Smith and Davies gears up to celebrate 85 years of business, we take a look at their progress from small cartage contractor during the roaring twenties to today’s operator of one of New Zealand’s largest vehicle and equipment fleets. Eighty years and counting…One of Winstone Aggregates’ oldest customers, Smith and Davies was established in the mid 1920s by Alun Tyler-Davies and Len Smith, carting milk and cream for local farmers. By the mid 1930s the company had expanded its transport services to include coal and firewood, bulk fertiliser, aggregate and wool and had established a fleet of 20 trucks.
